Then why am I not laughing? I'm having a repeat of my earlier computer saga, which saw two brand new computers being returned / exchanged with a few days of each other, but not without uploading all data and software first... I eventually reverted to the brand of my then previous laptop - and all ran well from 21 Jan to the Easter weekend and my return from Uganda... then the software got itself into a security loop and I conceded to send it in for repairs. The "service" I got was appalling, and after two patient weeks, I got an immediate response after e-mailing Packard Bell HQ in the Netherlands. Suddenly, after no communication what-so-ever initiated by the repair company, I had three communications in one day and a "repaired" computer on its way back to me... As I gladly put my temperamental old laptop back into retirement and reveled in a machine that understood the meaning of multi-tasking and the fact that it was not synonymous with HANG... I discovered that the "fixed" laptop had developed problems it did not have when it left and the space bar did not function as it should... Reluctantly the new computer has gone back to be "fixed" - shudder... but in the mean time Packard Bell has got back to me and offered a brand new computer... Still waiting for that to unfold into reality - but what a time waster this whole episode has been - and here I am about to launch off on computer number 4 and spend days loading programmes, and setting up preferences... If anyone is interested, I've started writing online for suite 101... my first article on Tsitsikama is here
